Friends House is a not-for-profit organization located in Santa Rosa,
CA. It is a housing and health care center for the elderly. This web
site incorporates aesthetic appeal with ease of navigation. The overall
design focused on a warm color scheme and friendly, inviting pictures.
This site is a total redesign of an existing site and was completed
for the Business of Web Development class at Santa Rosa Junior College,
CA. The target audience includes elderly citizens, their families,
and independent contributors from the community.
There are four main sections, each with their own color scheme and
header graphics. On the Home Page, I used a door to suggest Welcome
to Friends House. For the Organization pages, I have a picture of
two benches to represent FASE and Friends House. The Financial pages
have a window to represent a window of opportunity. I used a doorknob
to depict Community. For Services, I used a walkway to represent choices
and the variety of services offered at Friends House. This was not
a content heavy site, so the photos became very important. In a few
instances, I combined images to illustrate the services and create
visual interest for the pages.
