San Telmo Wines of Argentina developed a compact disc of music that captures the local flavors of their corner of the world. With this disc they wanted a way to set an audio mood for the viewer of sipping wine at a sidewalk café on a street in Buenes Aires. This would also bolster their market branding by planting a seed in the viewer's mind so that whenever they hear a tango, they will think of the wines of San Telmo.

We took advantage of Macromedia Flash's tight compression and streaming abilities to develop a series of Flash movies that allow the viewer to listen to all twelve tracks of the San Telmo Wines CD while they browse the Web site. One main Flash movie (14kb) contains the controls the viewer uses to skip through the tracks. Each of the twelve audio tracks are compressed as Flash movies (.swf's; 200kb to 500kb each) using standard MP3 compression. Since the Flash plug-in starts playing the audio movie as soon as it starts receiving it in the browser, the viewer doesn't even notice the download of the separate files. As well, the main movie only downloads the tracks the viewer selects. This provides the viewer with a seamless audio accompaniment to their visit to the San Telmo Wines Web site.

On a final note: We have witnessed many in our sales department who regularly bring up this site just to listen to the tangos while they work!
